MiVoice Business Release 9.0

This release includes patches and enhancements.

What's New

Hardware and Tools

The EX controller is newly added to the MiVoice Business family of controllers. The EX controller runs a Virtual MiVoice Business instance inside Kernel-based Virtual Machine (KVM). For technical specifications, see the Hardware Technical Reference Manual document. For installation, see to the EX Controller Hardware Installation for hardware installation and the Technician's Handbook document for software installation.

The MiVoice Business Migration Tool replaces the MiVoice Business Software Installer tool that helps you to migrate your MiVoice Business system to MiVoice Business Release 9.0 (Release 9.0) or later. To migrate to Release 9.0 or later, the MiVoice Business system's database must be prepared by de-programming unsupported sets, interfaces, and programming. Once your database is compatible, the tool helps you migrate your 3300 ICP controller to Release 9.0. For more details, refer to the MiVoice Business Migration Tool Help and the MiVoice Business Migration Guidelines document.

NOTE: The MiVoice Business Software Installer tool is not supported in MiVoice Business Release 9.0 or later.

Features and Capabilites

The Caller Based Routing feature allows the routing of incoming Public Switched Telephone Network (PSTN) calls from specific callers based on the Caller ID. The incoming calls are identified as Whitelist and Blacklist service types, and are routed accordingly.

  • A new field is added in the Trunk Attributes form to control which trunks have the access to Caller Based Routing feature.
  • The Whitelist and Blacklist service types are configured in the Caller Based Routing Service form.

The following maintenance commands are updated with new entries to support Whitelist and Blacklist service types:

  • CRS QUERY WHITELIST
  • CRS QUERY BLACKLIST
  • CRS SHOW WHITELIST
  • CRS SHOW BLACKLIST
NOTE: The CRS SHOW WHITELIST and CRS QUERY BLACKLIST maintenance commands can be used to troubleshoot the Caller Based Routing feature. For more information, see the Troubleshooting Guide.

Added support for the Google Chrome 59 (or later) and the Microsoft Edge 38 (or later) browsers for the System Administration Tool.

Installation and Upgrade - Before proceeding with the installation or migration, refer to the MiVoice Business Migration Guidelines document.

NOTE: The MiVoice Business Software Installer is not supported from this release onwards.

The Last Group Member Routing (LGMR) feature is an enhancement to the Ring Groups feature. When enabled, connects a caller to the same ring group member that attended the caller within a specified period of time.

Added support for the Mozilla Firefox 36.0.4 (or later), the Google Chrome 59 (or later), and the Microsoft Edge 38 (or later) browsers for the Desktop and Group Admin Tools.

Server Console can be used to perform the following tasks on the 3300 ICP controllers:

  • Check server status
  • Configure the server
  • Register for ServiceLink
  • Reboot or shutdown the server
  • Manage trusted networks
  • Perform backup and restore

The support of Server Manager is extended to 3300 ICP controllers, to perform platform, security, and administration related tasks. This is similar to the Server Manager supported for the MiVoice Business Virtual and Industry Standard Server (ISS) systems.

The following programming is either modified or moved to the Server Manager:

  • The Web Server Certificate form is moved from the System Administration Tool to the Server Manager. You can manage the web server certificate from Security > Web Server in the Server Manager. For more information, refer to the Server Manager Help.
  • The External FTP Server form supports SFTP (in addition to the FTP) to connect to an external remote server.
  • The Application Record ID field in the License and Option Selection form is read-only. The Application Record ID must be set in Service account ID field under ServiceLink > Status in the Server Manager to activate your account. After the account is activated, the License and Option Selection form displays the System Core Package license values automatically. There is no change to Change Licenses and Options and Selecting Licenses and Options.
  • The Date and Time form is moved from the System Administration Tool to the Server Manager. You can configure the date and time from Configuration > Date and Time in the Server Manager. For more information, refer to the Server Manager Help.
  • The DHCP IP Address Range, DHCP Options, DHCP Lease Viewer, DHCP Server, DHCP Static IP, and DHCP Subnet forms are moved from the System Administration Tool to the Server Manager. You can configure the DHCP from Configuration > DHCP in the Server Manager. For more information, refer to the Server Manager Help.
  • IPv6 addressing is supported for DHCP configuration for the MiVoice Business system deployed on the ISS platform.
    • The SNMP Configuration and SNMP Trap Forwarding forms are removed from the System Administration Tool.
    • The SNMP configuration is moved to Configuration > SNMP in the Server Manager. For more information, refer to the Server Manager Help. The Mitel traps and ER notifications can be enabled from the new field Enable ER TRAPS in the form.
      • Fault Management (alarm distribution) using the SNMP is not supported in the MiVoice Business Release 9.0. The Fault Management (alarm distribution) is through internal data sharing mechanisms using DataService and DSTransport.
      • IPv6 addressing is supported for SNMP configuration for the MiVoice Business system deployed on the ISS platform.
      • SNMPv3 support is added.

Certain fields are read-only in the System IP Properties form. For more information, see the MiVoice Business Migration Guidelines document.

Certain controllers, interfaces, and sets are not supported in this release. For a complete list of unsupported sets, hardware, and interfaces, see the MiVoice Business Migration Guidelines document.

NOTE:The AX controller and the Multi-instance Communications Director are not supported until MiVoice Business Release 9.1

Added support for Fully Qualified Domain Name (FQDN) and IPv6 addressing:

  • After a system upgrade, the system by default uses IPv4 addresses. 3300 ICP controllers do not support IPv6.

FQDN simplifies configuration and provides resiliency for MiVoice Business services.

FQDN can resolve to both IPv4 and IPv6 addresses.

For forms that support the SDS feature, FQDN should be used only when all the nodes in the network support FQDN.

MiVoice Business can connect to services or devices that support both IPv6 and IPv4, using both IPv4 and IPv6 addresses.

The Prefer Call Forwarding/Rerouting Information COS option is extended to rings groups. When enabled, gives priority to the forwarding/rerouting information over ring group information on the ringing member's telephone display.

The system requirements for MXe III and CX/CXi II are updated. The MXe III systems require a minimum of 1 GB RAM and 60 GB disk space and the CX/CX II systems require a minimum of 1 GB RAM and 16 GB disk space. For more information on system requirements, refer to the Hardware Technical Reference Manual.

The Telnet port 23 is modified as port 2023. The Call Control telnet ports can be accessed only by devices listed in the trusted networks configuration in Server Manager. For more information, see Server Manager Help.

The TDM XNET feature is not supported.

The physical printer port on the 3300 ICP controller is not supported. However, the network printing support is continued.

Added support to allow SIP devices only with TLS to register and place calls. See TLS Only in the SIP Device Capabilities form.

Added support to enable authentication for CTI based applications that interact with the MiVoice Business System. See Enable CTI Application Authentication in the Shared System Options form.

Added support to enable access to the Server Manager application from the MiVoice Business tool selection page. To enable access, set Enable access to Server Manager to Yes in the Shared System Options form and enable Access to Server Manager for the user in the User Authorization Profile form.

The Desktop Tool supports the drag-and-drop feature to provision and move a key.

NOTES:

  • Only 69xx series IP phones support the drag-and-drop feature.
  • Keys programmed with the following features cannot be moved or swapped:
  • Key System
  • Single Line
  • Multicall
  • DSS/Busy Lamp
  • Prime Line
  • Secretarial
  • Application

Added support for Transport Layer Security (TLS) for MiNET connections and the MiVoice Business Console connections to the MiVoice Business system.

Added a new form, Device Certificate that provides SSL or enterprise Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) certificate based authentication for MiVoice Business systems interacting with each other.

Added support to install enterprise Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) certificate for web browsers.

Added support for streaming audio for MOH through an USB device (for EX Controllers only).
